Jazz Guitar at Wildacres welcomes guitarists and bassists (upright and bass guitar) of all levels who can already play at least one genre of music on their instrument. Instruction will be through small groups of 4-6 players. More time will be spent on playing than talking. Prior to arriving you’ll be given a core list of tunes to learn before the camp. These tunes will be the bread and butter curriculum of the week. Chip will be in touch with each student via FaceTime or Google Meet to go over the tunes before the retreat.
Teachers will rotate amongst all groups every hour. Bassists will work mostly with Zack but depending on enrollment, more teachers may be added. The motto here is less talk, more play.
Afternoons and evenings you will have more time to play in your groups, and attend performances by teachers and students. Each evening will conclude with more jamming if you like. You are also encouraged to explore the beautiful nature surrounding us.
Wildacres is the perfect getaway to relax in a one-of-a-kind mountain environment, make new friends, and be inspired by a community of great jazz.
Costs for guitarists and bassists: $1,200. Includes all meals and shared room, classes and concerts, and the Blue Ridge mountains!

Cancellation/Refunds: full refund by July 31. After July 31 a 50% refund if notified by September 1. After September 1, no refund can be given. Please use email (chipgulbro@gmail.com) for notification purposes.
Rooms: Wildacres policy is that rooms are double occupancy in order to allow as many people as possible to attend. Significant others may attend but they must pay the full price even if they don’t participate.
Photography/Images: A person attending who does not wish to have their image recorded for publication/distribution should make their wishes known when registering.
Age Requirement: must be 19 or older to attend.
Video policy: No videos may be taken during performances at our camp. We encourage an environment free from fear of being recorded. And we want you to live in the “moment” rather than through your phone which will probably block someone else’s view and ruin their experience.
